Abundance is Your Birthright

I’ve recently faced some changes when it comes to my income stream (hello entrepreneurship!) and I won’t lie to you - it’s been freaking me out! Rather than continue to worry about it, and second guess every flipping decision as it comes to how the heck I’m going to generate MORE - I’ve decided to take a step back, a nice deep breath (or a billion), and invest in my mindset first.

The fact of the matter is that money doesn’t really matter - health and wellbeing is so much more important, and isn’t worth sacrificing in order for anything (yes, including mula!). With that said, I do want to feel comfortable and at ease with my financial situation, and I figured this particular chapter of my life - through which I’m facing many unknowns and “shifts”, is a perfect time to re-explore my relationship with money so that I can start to build and foster a “healthier” abundance mindset.

Enter Di from Di Live - a success coach and certified consultant in The Proctor Gallagher Institute Material. I’ve recently had the pleasure of getting to know her more, and I can honestly say she’s a master at this stuff - most notably in helping to guide people come into alignment with what it is they really want, and then providing a specific, actionable framework to actually get there and enjoy it (while yes - reaping the financial benefits!).

We recently had a discussion about how to build a positive relationship with money (watch the FB Live replay here) and Di had quite a few good suggestions and tips that I’ve already started to implement into my own life, and am enjoying the process and feeling the positive shifts start to happen - or at least start to become a bit clearer.

Here are some of my favourite take-aways from our chat:

1) Start with Gratitude

In order to “activate” your best ever dreaming mindset, and get into the “zone” of really envisioning what it is your dreams are, and living them fully (like, in your head) - Di suggests you start by practicing gratitude. It can be a powerful “jumpstart” to get into the right headspace to think about your dreams. When we’re operating from a place of gratitude we are naturally calling in abundance, and hence it’s easier to become more open to all of the wonderful amazing epic things you want to do/give/create in the world - the boundaries seem less restrictive and the universe truly opens up.

2) Dream Dream Dream (And Don’t Worry About The How)

Following from the above, once I get into the “gratitude zone”, I enter DREAM WORLD. Practically speaking, for myself, this has meant lying in bed before I go to sleep each night and listing things from my day that I am grateful for. I say these things aloud and then start to envision (clearly and with as much emotion and feeling as possible) my life exactly how it would feel best - what I’d be doing, eating, smelling, wearing, who I’d be with, where I’d be travelling etc etc - ALL OF THE THINGS. While this activity can be fun, exciting, and energizing, it can also be really hard. What I mean by that is that it can be understandably daunting to dream up exactly what it is you want - after all, how the heck are you supposed to know that?! On top of all of that, your logical mind kicks in and gives you the “reality check” that none of this is likely possible - and you don’t really have it “figured out” enough to even get there. Basically, there’s this little (annoyingly rude) person in your head that’s only trying their best to keep it REAL, but they need to shut the heck up so you can dream on without boundaries.

Similar to the practice of meditation where you bring your attention back to the breath when you start to wander off - the same should be done during this dream visualization practice. As soon as you start to feel the need to explain or justify or rationalize your dreams - remind yourself that the only purpose of this exercise is to DREAM BIG, and anything else is just a distraction, so recenter yourself and keep living that good life (in your mind!).

3) Start Offering Value - YESTERDAY

Di reminds us that we live in such an abundant universe: “There is no lack or limitation - only that of which we decide in our own mind that there is.” It’s reassuring to learn that the universe is governed by law and as you give freely, you’ll receive. Many of us have it the wrong way around - we’re looking to get, and we think that once when we’ve “got” it, we’ll be in a place to give. Instead, if you start giving (of your service, money, time, etc.) and really start to follow that law - then you’ll definitely be receiving and you won’t need to worry about it.

That last bit really rings true in my own life, because as soon as I start to worry/try/tense up - things get even more difficult. But, as I loosen my grip and start opening up to all the gifts the universe has to offer, and enjoy the process of interacting with that (rather than just focusing on the tangible outcome)...the “tangible outcomes” naturally appear, and it just feels so right (and easy!).

While I’m far from having this abundance mindset thing all figured out - it’s been inspiring and helpful to follow the guidance of someone who literally lives and breathes this stuff to help me navigate my own journey through it.
